Alison P. Block, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist and the Director of the Health Psychology Center in Oceanport, NJ. Dr. Block works closely with other professionals including physicians and other specialties in order to provide patients with comprehensive care and meet their individual needs.
Dr. Block is also the director of the psychosocial curriculum for the Department of Medicine at Monmouth Medical Center, an affiliate of the Robert Wood Johnson Barnabas Health Care System. In this role, she is responsible for training medical residents about the psychological effects of chronic and acute illness, how to understand mental illness, break bad news, deal with death and dying, and how to deal empathically with their patients.
An accomplished public speaker, she often hosts seminars and presentations for charitable organizations, PTAs, churches and synagogues. Dr. Block also consults to medical practices and other professional groups/small businesses regarding team building, leadership and stress management. She also provides individual services to employees in the areas of anger management and executive coaching. She is a member of the American Psychological Association, the New Jersey Association of Cognitive Therapists (NJACT) and the New Jersey Psychological Association.
Dr. Block was a member of the Board of Managers for the American Cancer Society Shore Region for 15 years and is a winner of the American Cancer Society Marie D. Marshall Award for Excellence in Breast Cancer Treatment and Rehabilitation. She has also volunteered at the American Lung Association’s camp for asthmatic children.
